Taormina Sky Private E-Bike Experience

The Taormina Sky Private E-Bike Experience is a full-day journey designed to connect some of the most iconic landscapes of Eastern Sicily — from the volcanic formations of the Alcantara Gorges to the panoramic heights above Taormina, and down to the Ionian coastline.

The experience begins with a private transfer from your hotel toward the Alcantara Valley, where the first exploration takes place inside the famous Alcantara Gorges. These dramatic basalt formations were created when ancient lava flows from Mount Etna met the cold waters of the river, cooling rapidly and forming vertical columnar structures. Walking inside the canyon, touching the cold river water and observing the geometry of the rock offers a direct introduction to the volcanic origins of this territory.

From here, the journey continues toward the starting point of the e-bike route. As the ride begins, the landscape gradually shifts. The first section reveals the outer boundaries of Mount Etna’s volcanic system, where lava fields meet older geological formations. This transition becomes even more evident as the route climbs toward Monte Veneretta, an area where volcanic terrain interacts with sedimentary and metamorphic rocks, creating a unique geological contrast rarely visible in a single experience.

The ascent is progressive and supported by high-quality e-bikes, allowing participants to focus on the surroundings. Along the way, several panoramic stops open views toward the northern side of Mount Etna, the Ionian coastline, and the inland valleys. Points such as Punte Mole offer striking perspectives over the terrain, highlighting the diversity of the landscape.

As the route continues, the environment changes once again. Forested sections alternate with open volcanic terrain, creating a dynamic ride that reflects the complexity of the region. The experience is designed to adapt to the group, with the possibility to include a break at local spots such as Bar Turrisi in Castelmola, or to descend further toward the sea.

The final part of the journey leads through Castelmola and Taormina, where mountain scenery meets history and architecture. Riding through the historic center, with views toward the Greek Theatre of Taormina, adds a cultural dimension to the experience.

For those who wish, the day can extend toward the coast, reaching the seaside villages where it is possible to stop for a traditional Sicilian moment — enjoying a granita by the sea, a simple but authentic way to conclude the experience.

December – March (cooler season | min. ~10°C):
We recommend layered clothing, including a light thermal layer, long trousers, a windproof or light jacket, and closed shoes. Morning temperatures can be cooler, especially during the transfer to Alcantara.

April – November (mild to warm season):
Light and breathable sportswear is ideal. Short sleeves, cycling shorts or comfortable pants, sunglasses and sunscreen are recommended. Always bring a light jacket for higher or shaded sections.

For all seasons:

Equipment provided for e-bike tours

For all e-bike experiences, Into Etna provides professional-grade equipment specifically selected for volcanic terrain, lava rock, sand, and altitude changes.

The equipment provided includes a latest-generation e-mountain bike, a certified bike helmet, a technical backpack, and high-quality lighting equipment for low-light conditions.
For sunrise and sunset tours, high-power headlamps with a minimum output of 1000 lumens are provided.

Technical assistance is available during the tour, and all equipment is regularly inspected, maintained, and upgraded with the latest technologies to ensure safety, comfort, and reliable performance.

Electric assistance allows a smooth and controlled ascent, helping the group remain compact and reducing physical strain while maintaining a natural pace.

Payment methods and booking conditions

To confirm a booking, one of the following options is required:

A 50 percent deposit at the time of booking, with the remaining balance paid on the day of the excursion, or full payment at the time of booking.

Accepted payment methods depend on the booking channel and are specified during the reservation process.
A booking is considered confirmed once the deposit or full payment has been received.

Cancellation policy

Cancellations made by participants are subject to the following conditions:

Up to 7 days before the excursion, 50 percent of the total amount is refundable.
Up to 3 days before the excursion, 25 percent of the total amount is refundable.
Less than 24 hours before the excursion or in case of no-show, no refund is provided.

If an excursion is cancelled by Into Etna due to weather conditions, volcanic activity, or safety reasons, participants will receive a full refund or the option to reschedule the experience on a new agreed date.

Is this a private tour?
Yes. The experience is exclusively private, designed for your group only.

Is hotel pickup included?
Yes. Pickup and drop-off are included from Taormina, Giardini Naxos and nearby areas.

Do I need to be fit?
A moderate level of fitness is recommended. The e-bike assists the climb, but the tour lasts several hours.

Is the ride technical?
No. The route is not technical. It is designed to be scenic and enjoyable rather than challenging.

Do we enter the Alcantara Gorges?
Yes. You will walk inside the canyon and explore the basalt formations.

Is lunch included?
